Purpose:

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), in partnership with Pedicab Outdoor, provided a memorable experience for many participants at this year’s Nike Women’s Marathon. The ever-popular marathon drew thousands of runners and visitors to SF over the weekend of October 20th. The epicenter of activity on Saturday was at the registration headquarters in Union Square. The area was inundated with visitors, participants and volunteers checking in for the event. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) wanted to pamper runners and their supporters the day before the race by providing complimentary pedicab rides around the area and encourage patrons to text donations to LLS.

Execution:

Advertising wraps with a sleek graphic display had been installed on 10 pedicabs and drivers all wore LLS t-shirts. The LLS t-shirts worn by drivers had a number to text a donation to LLS with a suggested donation of $10.

The fleet of pedicabs initially staged on Post Street along Union Square’s northern front. Due to heavy auto traffic throughout the day, cabs became the only reliable transport option for many. Although the demand for a pedicab hit its peak at around 3:00 PM, the drivers were quite busy throughout the day and enjoyed the overwhelming appreciation from their passengers. LLS seemed to be viewed as a savior organization not only for the work that they do but also for providing a transport option that was free, fun, and fast.

The general mood of the day was light and easygoing as runners rested and pedicab drivers hustled.

Campaign Details:
